Biography
Dr Ming-Lang Tseng is a Full-time Professor of supply chain & operations management in Lunghwa University of Science & Technology, Taiwan. In addition, he is an Adjunct Professor in De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines; Adjunct Distinguished Professor, Asia University, Taiwan; Adjunct Professor, Beijing JiaoTong University, Beijing, China; Visiting (Chair) Professor, Anhui University of Finance, Anhui, China and Distinguished Professor (Haitien Scholar) in Dalian University of Technology, Panjin Campus, China. He held various executive positions in international groups (Textile manufacturing and Real Estate Development) in Asia, East and South Africa for more than 5 years’ experience before returning to academia in 2005. His research interests include GSCM, SCP, SSCM, service innovation and Novel MCDM method. He has published more than 110 journal articles, 130 conference papers (h-index= 23, G-index: 33) and awarded 20 projects in 10 years. In addition, he was a Research Fellow in the Institute of Applied Ecology at Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, in 2012-2013 and visiting scholar at University of Derby, UK, in 2015 (Funded by MOST, Taiwan). He handled several special issues on Sustainable Consumption and Production topic in JCLP, IJPR, IJPE, RCR, IEMS, Sustainability, etc. Currently, he serves as Associate Editor of Journal of Cleaner Production (SCI, If:4.95) and Associate Editor of Management of Environmental Quality: an international journal (Scopus and INSPEC) and Editorial Board Member of ISI journals (ASOC, IMDS, RCR etc). He is also on the trustee member of several international organizations (APIEMS, ICPR Asia Chapter and ISBITM) and President of Chinese Institute of Innovation management and Development, Taiwan.
Abstract
This study constructs a valid and reliable hierarchical framework for assessing corporate sustainability performance. The traditional fuzzy synthetic method consider neither the causal interrelationships among criteria nor how to construct the hierarchical framework. In addition, previous studies have lacked a resource-based view, and few studies have discussed how to construct a hierarchical structure. Therefore, this study integrates the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory method, exploratory factor analysis and the fuzzy synthetic method to assess corporate sustainability performance. The overall corporate sustainability assessment results for the Taiwanese textile industry are low because this industry needs to improve in social responsibility. However, the economic perspective performs well. This industry focuses on the 1. the firm’s economic activities; 2. stakeholder management; and 3. operational control aspects. The major causal effect criteria are listed in the discussion section.
