Chongqing Key laboratory of Metal Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) was set up in 2015, and the professional field involves heat flow mechanics, material science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and other disciplines. Guided by the future development direction of 3D printing, the application of light-weight or high-strength metals and intelligent parts, the laboratory focuses on structural optimization design, material treatment and preparation, light-weight product design, equipment innovation, engineering application innovation and other directions. Based on those technologies, the large-scale high-efficiency SLM (selective laser melting) equipment with the largest forming size in the world has been developed by the laboratory in 2017, which has been applied in the manufacturing of large metal parts in the fields of aerospace, mold and so on.
Key laboratory is equipped with Multi-metal Laser Sintering System, contact fatigue tester, three coordinate measuring instrument, depth of field three-dimensional microscopic system, linear cutting machine tools and X-ray stress analyzer. Currently, the integration of hardware platform has been built up, including manufacturing, testing and analysis, which could provide hardware support for the design of lattice structure, analysis of powder materials and manufactured parts’ properties, process optimization and development of new materials.
